Abstract

Lima Field is a mature oil field in the Offshore North West Java operated by Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ). This field consists of multiple reservoirs from Talang Akar to Cisubuh Formation. Currently more than 80% production of Lima field is contributed from Main Formation.
LRLC (Low Resistivity Low Contrast) reservoirs in Main Formation are found throughout the Lima Field, these are categorized as low productivity reservoirs and recovery factor are remain low (RF < 5%). Hydraulic Fracturing is the most common well stimulation applied to sandstones with low permeability in order to improve well productivity. Increasing oil production while minimizing investment cost and ensuring profitability of development strategy has become the primary objective in the period of low oil price environment.
This paper intended to share a comprehensive method in constructing a detailed well planning and execution of hydraulic fracture well that evaluates well selection criteria to minimize investment cost and increasing well deliverability accuracy including perforation strategy, hydraulic fracturing design, and completion strategy. The method utilize well optimization from existing well to recover undrained area and avoid fracture propagation to existing wells and fault were conducted to reduce investment cost, integrity issue and water encroachment. Evaluation of perforation and fracturing program was carried out to identify the best interval to deliver the highest oil production based on fracturing geometry design and it will not penetrate to water zone either upper or lower reservoir target. Completion, artificial lift design and production strategy played an important role to ensure the well could be produced without any interruption due to proppant flow back and accessibility of well intervention to clean out the proppant if necessary.
